THE SCIENCE BEHIND GLO-PRO LURES

PENETRATION IN MURKY WATER

As light enters the water, scattering and total absorption of red and yellow occurs at depths of just 3-feet. Simply put - these colors appear dull and grey. At greater depths - just blue, purple, and ultraviolet wavelengths remain visible, which is why our lures excel at attracting the attention and appetite of game fish.

Overwhelming evidence exists that artificial bait of certain color and luminescence matters greatly to the perception of fresh water and ocean dwelling fish. Sound travels nearly five times faster underwater than in air, and fish use a combination of inner-ear vibration, lateral line stimulation via electromagnetic fields, smell, and large eyes to detect both predator and prey. In just 3-meters of water, nearly 60% of visible light is absorbed - while at 10-meters only 15% remains visible.

Owner and founder, Patrick McManigal has been fishing his hometown lake, Lake Michigan, as well as locations in northern Wisconsin and Canada for years using improvised glow baits, which led to the creation of our lures.

Our patented lures were developed with assistance from the Milwaukee School of Engineering,
